Nepal Student Research & Community Health Team Raises Funds for Families Affected by the Bhotekoshi Floods
Members of the Nepal Student Research & Community Health Team, who participated in the 2026 Trans-Himalayan Research Expedition to Dolpo, Nepal, are leading a fundraising effort to support families affected by the devastating Bhotekoshi floods. LA Net served as the expedition’s nonprofit and fiscal sponsor and is supporting this student-led relief effort by receiving and helping distribute donated funds.
Through their work in Nepal, members of the team developed close relationships with local community members and partners. When the flooding struck, the disaster became personal: families and friends of people the team knows were directly affected, and community members remain missing.
In response, the students launched this fundraising effort to provide direct financial assistance to families with whom the team has a trusted local connection.

Who We Are Helping
The initial relief effort will focus on three families from Marpak, Dhading, the home community of Sudip Adhikari, a trusted local contact in Nepal and longtime friend and colleague of expedition researchers Nikhil Stewart and Rachel See. Sudip’s home village was directly in the path of the Bhotekoshi flooding. People he grew up with are among those reported missing, and families in his community are facing immediate needs as they recover from the disaster.

As they are the main provider to the family, their families are in double pain. The first pain is losing their family, and the second pain is losing needed income. Donations will provide flexible financial assistance that families can use for their most urgent needs, including:

• Temporary housing and living expenses
• Clothing and essential household items
• Transportation
• Recovery and rebuilding expenses
• Other immediate needs resulting from the flooding
How Funds Will Reach Families
LA Net Community Health Resource Network will collect donations designated for the Nepal Flood Relief Fund. Funds will then be transferred to Sudip Adhikari in Nepal, who will distribute the donations directly to the identified families. The student team knows Sudip personally and is working through this trusted local relationship to help ensure that assistance reaches families with immediate needs. This direct, relationship-based approach reflects the same principles that guided the team’s work in Nepal: working with communities through trusted local partnerships and responding to priorities identified by the people who live there.
